Taking a Stand Against Scams

At Fodens, our number one priority is our clients, and we are constantly looking for new ways to help them. Following this ethos, we are thrilled to announce that two of our directors, Sophie Yates and Kelly Davies, have recently joined the National Trading Standards initiative, Friends Against Scams.

The purpose of this initiative is to help prevent people from falling victim to the various scams that affect our economy, as well as supporting and protecting those who have been affected by them. Scammers regularly come up with new ways to trick consumers, and members of the initiative work towards raising awareness of the different types of scams that exist, how to identify them, and just how easy it is to fall for them.

Both Sophie and Kelly underwent training with Friends Against Scams, and are now confident in the steps needed to help support scam victims. We are also delighted to say that Sophie undertook additional training to become a Friends Against Scams Champion. This means that Sophie can now deliver training sessions designed to raise awareness about the different types of scams, and what to do if you encounter one.

“Our business has been built on a personal connection with our local community, and given the work I do with vulnerable adults, it is really important to Kelly and myself to have undergone this training.” said Sophie after receiving her Champion certificate. “I’m now keen to get out and find local groups who would be interested in receiving a training session, or who would like to learn more about scams.”

We are proud to have gathered together a friendly team who truly care about the people we help. With Sophie and Kelly’s new skills in fighting scams, the Fodens team can now start helping more vulnerable people who have been taken advantage of, and help prevent anyone else from being affected.

If you or someone you know has been the victim of a scam, large or small, then feel free to get in touch and help us take a stand against scams.
