Making a Will

A Will is one of the most important financial documents you will ever write. It also provides peace of mind in knowing that your money, property and personal possessions will pass to your chosen beneficiaries in accordance with your expressed wishes. Your Will also guides those who are left behind and saves worry and heartache at a time of great emotional stress.

Post Death Variations

There are many reasons why beneficiaries or trustees may want to consider rearranging the disposal of a deceased persons estate including directing an asset to another e.g the child of a parent, to save tax, to compromise potential disputes or to resolve a defect in a Will.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

Lasting Powers of Attorney are legal documents which allow you to state who you would like to make decisions on your behalf should you become unable to do so in the future. There are two different types, Property and Affairs; Health and Welfare. Each type covers different decisions. You can choose to make both types or just one.

Estate Administration

Estate Administration involves identifying the deceased assets and debts, realising the assets, paying off creditors and distributing what’s left. As executor you have significant responsibilities and potential liabilities. Estate Administration can be complex and our advice can be sought either on individual issues or we can assist in undertaking the whole of the Estate Administration, relieving you of the responsibilities and potential liabilities.

Court of Protection

The Court of Protection is responsible for making decisions on financial or welfare matters for people who lack mental capacity. We are able to make applications to the Court of Protection either on an emergency basis or under appropriate circumstances. Call us for assistance.

Inheritance Tax Planning

Inheritance Tax affects a considerable number of people following steep rises in house prices over recent years. We can advise on whether you are likely to have an IHT liability and what steps you may be able to take to mitigate that liability upon death.

Trusts

A Trust is a way of managing assets (money, investments, land or buildings) for people. There are different types of Trusts and they are taxed differently. Whether you are looking to establish a Trust during your life or on death we can help.

“We just wanted to send you a massive thank you for making the process of purchasing our first house so smooth. You’ve reassured us and kept us in the loop at all times, we’ve understood what’s been happening and have felt totally secure in the knowledge that you have handled everything perfectly. We know you do this as a living, but for us it’s made a stressful situation so much more bearable knowing we’ve had you in our corner. We will definitely recommend you to anyone who is looking for property solicitors. Thank you again! Look forward to working with you in any of our future property purchases.”
