Building Regulations
Local Authority Control |
Approved Inspectors Control |
Do Regulations Apply?
Building regulations were introduced to ensure the Health and Safety
of people in and around all types of building. They are not the same
as planning permission. Grouped into thirteen individual aspects of
'building work', building regulations cover a range of subjects -
from the structure of a building, its fire safety and energy saving
qualities, to hygiene and access matters.
There are two types of building control service available, Local
Authority Control and Approved Inspectors
Control. Both carry a charge, but advice may be available before
work starts.
